AN 10.171 Bad Dhamma (1st) – Paṭhamaadhammasutta
1.1
“Bhikkhū, you should know bad dhamma with bad results.
“Adhammo ca, bhikkhave, veditabbo anattho ca;

And you should know good dhamma with good results.
dhammo ca veditabbo attho ca.
1.3
Knowing these things, your practice should follow the good dhamma with good results.
Adhammañca viditvā anatthañca, dhammañca viditvā atthañca yathā dhammo yathā attho tathā paṭipajjitabbaṁ.

And what are bad dhamma with bad results?
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, adhammo ca anattho ca?
2.2
Killing living creatures, stealing, and sexual misconduct; speech that’s false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical; covetousness, ill will, and wrong view.
Pāṇātipāto, adinnādānaṁ, kāmesumicchācāro, musāvādo, pisuṇā vācā, pharusā vācā, samphappalāpo, abhijjhā, byāpādo, micchādiṭṭhi—

These are called bad dhamma with bad results.
ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, adhammo ca anattho ca.
3.1
And what are good dhamma with good results?
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, dhammo ca attho ca?
3.2
Avoiding killing living creatures, stealing, and sexual misconduct; avoiding speech that’s false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical; contentment, good will, and right view.
Pāṇātipātā veramaṇī, adinnādānā veramaṇī, kāmesumicchācārā veramaṇī, musāvādā veramaṇī, pisuṇāya vācāya veramaṇī, pharusāya vācāya veramaṇī, samphappalāpā veramaṇī, anabhijjhā, abyāpādo, sammādiṭṭhi—

These are called good dhamma with good results.
ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, dhammo ca attho ca.
4.1
‘You should know bad dhamma with bad results.
‘Adhammo ca, bhikkhave, veditabbo anattho ca;
4.2
And you should know good dhamma with good results.
dhammo ca veditabbo attho ca.
4.3
Knowing these things, your practice should follow the good dhamma with good results.’

That’s what I said, and this is why I said it.”
iti yaṁ taṁ vuttaṁ, idametaṁ paṭicca vuttan”ti.
