“Tapanīyañca vo, bhikkhave, dhammaṁ desessāmi atapanīyañca.

And what is the mortifying principle?

katamo ca, bhikkhave, tapanīyo dhammo?

Wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, wrong samādhi, wrong knowledge, and wrong freedom.

Micchādiṭṭhi …pe… micchāvimutti—

This is called the mortifying principle.

ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, tapanīyo dhammo.

And what is the unmortifying principle?

Katamo ca, bhikkhave, atapanīyo dhammo?

Right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right samādhi, right knowledge, and right freedom.
