“There are these two gifts.
“Dvemāni, bhikkhave, dānāni.
1.2
What two?
Katamāni dve?
1.3
A gift of material things and a gift of the teaching.
Āmisadānañca dhammadānañca.
1.4
These are the two gifts.
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, dve dānāni.
1.5
The better of these two gifts is the gift of the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ dānānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammadānan”ti.

“There are these two offerings.
“Dveme, bhikkhave, yāgā.
1.2
What two?
Katame dve?
1.3
An offering of material things and an offering of the teaching.
Āmisayāgo ca dhammayāgo ca.
1.4
These are the two offerings.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve yāgā.
1.5
The better of these two offerings is an offering of the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ yāgānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammayāgo”ti.

“Dveme, bhikkhave, cāgā.
1.2
What two?
Katame dve?
1.3
Generosity with material things and generosity with the teaching.
Āmisacāgo ca dhammacāgo ca.
1.4
These are the two acts of generosity.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve cāgā.
1.5
The better of these two acts of generosity is generosity with the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ cāgānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammacāgo”ti.

Charity in material things and charity in the teaching.
Āmisapariccāgo ca dhammapariccāgo ca.
1.4
These are the two kinds of charity.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve pariccāgā.
1.5
The better of these two kinds of charity is a charity in the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ pariccāgānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammapariccāgo”ti.

Riches in material things and riches in the teaching.
Āmisabhogo ca dhammabhogo ca.
1.4
These are the two riches.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve bhogā.
1.5
The better of these two riches is riches in the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ bhogānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammabhogo”ti.

Enjoyment of material things and enjoyment of the teaching.
Āmisasambhogo ca dhammasambhogo ca.

These are the two kinds of enjoyment.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve sambhogā.
1.5
The better of these two kinds of enjoyment is the enjoyment of the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ sambhogānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammasambhogo”ti.

Sharing material things and sharing the teaching.

These are the two kinds of sharing.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve saṁvibhāgā.
1.5
The better of these two kinds of sharing is sharing the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ saṁvibhāgānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammasaṁvibhāgo”ti.

Inclusion in material things and inclusion in the teaching.
Āmisasaṅgaho ca dhammasaṅgaho ca.
1.4
These are the two kinds of inclusion.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve saṅgahā.
1.5
The better of these two kinds of inclusion is inclusion in the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ saṅgahānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammasaṅgaho”ti.

1.5
The better of these two kinds of support is support in the teaching.”

Imā kho, bhikkhave, dve anukampā.
1.5
The better of these two kinds of sympathy is sympathy in the teaching.”
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imāsaṁ dvinnaṁ anukampānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammānukampā”ti.
