“These two hopes are hard to give up.
“Dvemā, bhikkhave, āsā duppajahā.
1.2
What two?
Katamā dve?
1.3
The hope for wealth and the hope for long life.
Lābhāsā ca jīvitāsā ca.
1.4
These are two hopes that are hard to give up.”
Imā kho, bhikkhave, dve āsā duppajahā”ti.

“Dveme, bhikkhave, puggalā dullabhā lokasmiṁ.
1.2
What two?
Katame dve?
1.3
One who takes the initiative, and one who is grateful and thankful.
Yo ca pubbakārī, yo ca kataññū katavedī.
1.4
These are the two people who are rare in the world.”
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve puggalā dullabhā lokasmin”ti.

One who continually hoards wealth, and one who continually wastes wealth.
Yo ca laddhaṁ laddhaṁ nikkhipati, yo ca laddhaṁ laddhaṁ vissajjeti.
1.4
These are the two people who are hard to satisfy in the world.”
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve puggalā duttappayā”ti.

“Dveme, bhikkhave, puggalā sutappayā.
1.2
What two?
Katame dve?
1.3
One who does not continually hoard wealth, and one who does not continually waste wealth.
Yo ca laddhaṁ laddhaṁ na nikkhipati, yo ca laddhaṁ laddhaṁ na vissajjeti.
1.4
These are the two people who are easy to satisfy in the world.”
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve puggalā sutappayā”ti.

A light offense and a serious offense.
