“Bhikkhū, there are these four bases of psychic power.

“Cattārome, bhikkhave, iddhipādā.

What four?

Katame cattāro?

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu chandasamādhippadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṁ iddhipādaṁ bhāveti,

energy …

vīriyasamādhi …pe…

mental development …

cittasamādhi …

inquiry, and active effort.

vīmaṁsāsamādhippadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṁ iddhipādaṁ bhāveti—

These are the four bases of psychic power.”
