1. Plain Version – 1. Suddhikavagga
SN 48.3 A Stream-Enterer (2nd) – Dutiyasotāpannasutta
“Bhikkhū, there are these five faculties.
“Pañcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni.
What five?
Katamāni pañca?
The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, samādhi, and wisdom.
Saddhindriyaṁ, vīriyindriyaṁ, satindriyaṁ, samādhindriyaṁ, paññindriyaṁ.
A noble disciple comes to truly understand these five faculties’ origin, ending, gratification, drawback, and escape.
Yato kho, bhikkhave, ariyasāvako imesaṁ pañcannaṁ indriyānaṁ samudayañca atthaṅgamañca assādañca ādīnavañca nissaraṇañca yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti—
Such a noble disciple is called a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.”
ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, ariyasāvako sotāpanno avinipātadhammo niyato sambodhiparāyaṇo”ti.
