SN 46.47 Prosperous – Adaliddasutta

“Sir, they speak of someone who is ‘prosperous’.

“‘Adaliddo, adaliddo’ti, bhante, vuccati.

How is a prosperous person defined?”

Kittāvatā nu kho, bhante, ‘adaliddo’ti vuccatī”ti?

Bhikkhu, they’re called prosperous because they’ve developed and cultivated the seven awakening factors.

“Sattannaṁ kho, bhikkhu, bojjhaṅgānaṁ bhāvitattā bahulīkatattā ‘adaliddo’ti vuccati.

What seven?

Katamesaṁ sattannaṁ?

The awakening factors of mindfulness, investigation of principles, energy, rapture, tranquility, samādhi, and equanimity.

Satisambojjhaṅgassa …pe… upekkhāsambojjhaṅgassa—

They’re called prosperous because they’ve developed and cultivated these seven awakening factors.”

imesaṁ kho, bhikkhu, sattannaṁ bojjhaṅgānaṁ bhāvitattā bahulīkatattā ‘adaliddo’ti vuccatī”ti.
