At Sāvatthī.

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Bhikkhū, I will teach you one practicing wrongly and one practicing rightly.

“Micchāpaṭipannañca vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi, sammāpaṭipannañca.

Listen …

Taṁ suṇātha.

And who is practicing wrongly?

Katamo ca, bhikkhave, micchāpaṭipanno?

It’s someone who has wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, and wrong samādhi.

Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco micchādiṭṭhiko hoti …pe… micchāsamādhi—

This is called one practicing wrongly.

ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, micchāpaṭipanno.

And who is practicing rightly?

Katamo ca, bhikkhave, sammāpaṭipanno?

It’s someone who has right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right samādhi.

Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco sammādiṭṭhiko hoti …pe… sammāsamādhi—

This is called one practicing rightly.”

ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, sammāpaṭipanno”ti.
