Bhikkhū, develop samādhi.

“Samādhiṁ, bhikkhave, bhāvetha.

A bhikkhu who has samādhi truly understands.

Samāhito, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti.

What do they truly understand?

Kiñca yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti?

They truly understand that the eye is anicca.

‘Cakkhu aniccan’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti;

They truly understand that sights …

‘rūpā aniccā’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti;

eye consciousness …

‘cakkhuviññāṇaṁ aniccan’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti;

eye contact …

‘cakkhusamphasso anicco’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti.

the pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by eye contact is anicca. …

‘Yampidaṁ cakkhusamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaṁ sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā adukkhamasukhaṁ vā tampi aniccan’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti …pe…

They truly understand that the mind is anicca.

‘mano aniccan’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti.

They truly understand that thoughts …

manosamphasso …

the pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact is anicca.

‘yampidaṁ manosamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaṁ sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā adukkhamasukhaṁ vā tampi aniccan’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti.

Bhikkhū, develop samādhi.

Samādhiṁ, bhikkhave, bhāvetha.

A bhikkhu who has samādhi truly understands.”
