At Sāvatthī.

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Bhikkhū, desire and greed for sights,

“Yo, bhikkhave, rūpesu chandarāgo, cittasseso upakkileso.

sounds,

Yo saddesu …

smells,

yo gandhesu …

tastes,

yo rasesu …

touches,

yo phoṭṭhabbesu …

or thoughts is a corruption of the mind.

yo dhammesu chandarāgo, cittasseso upakkileso.

When a bhikkhu has given up mental corruption in these six cases, their mind inclines to renunciation.

Yato kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno imesu chasu ṭhānesu cetaso upakkileso pahīno hoti, nekkhammaninnañcassa cittaṁ hoti.

A mind imbued with renunciation is declared to be capable of directly knowing anything that can be realized.”

Nekkhammaparibhāvitaṁ cittaṁ kammaniyaṁ khāyati, abhiññā sacchikaraṇīyesu dhammesū”ti.
