SN 23.22 Liable To Cease – Nirodhadhammasutta

At Sāvatthī.

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:

Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

“Sir, they speak of things being ‘liable to cease’.

“‘nirodhadhammo, nirodhadhammo’ti, bhante, vuccati.

What is liable to cease?”

Katamo nu kho, bhante, nirodhadhammo”ti?

“Rādha, form, feeling, perception, saṅkhāra, and consciousness are liable to cease.

“Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, nirodhadhammo, vedanā nirodhadhammo, saññā nirodhadhammo, saṅkhārā nirodhadhammo, viññāṇaṁ nirodhadhammo.

Seeing this …

Evaṁ passaṁ …pe…

They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”

nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.

Dvādasamaṁ.

Dutiyamāravaggo.

Tassuddānaṁ

Māro ca māradhammo ca,

Aniccena apare duve;

Dukkhena ca duve vuttā,

Anattena tatheva ca;
