SN 23.19 Liable To End – Khayadhammasutta

At Sāvatthī.

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:

Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

“Sir, they speak of things being ‘liable to end’.

“‘khayadhammo, khayadhammo’ti, bhante, vuccati.

What is liable to end?”

Katamo nu kho, bhante, khayadhammo”ti?

“Rādha, form, feeling, perception, saṅkhāra, and consciousness are liable to end.

“Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, khayadhammo, vedanā khayadhammo, saññā khayadhammo, saṅkhārā khayadhammo, viññāṇaṁ khayadhammo.

Seeing this …

Evaṁ passaṁ …pe…

They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”

nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.
