At Sāvatthī.

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

“Bhikkhū, when a gentleman has gone forth out of faith, this is what’s in line with the teachings.

“Saddhāpabbajitassa, bhikkhave, kulaputtassa ayamanudhammo hoti—

They should live observing suffering in form,

yaṁ rūpe dukkhānupassī vihareyya.

feeling,

Vedanāya …

perception,

saññāya …

saṅkhāra,

saṅkhāresu …

and consciousness. …

viññāṇe dukkhānupassī vihareyya …pe…

They’re freed from suffering, I say.”

‘parimuccati dukkhasmā’ti vadāmī”ti.
