SN 1.44 One Root – Ekamūlasutta

 

“One is the root, two are the whirlpools,

“Ekamūlaṁ dvirāvaṭṭaṁ,

three are the stains, five the spreads,

timalaṁ pañcapattharaṁ;

twelve the ocean’s whirlpools:

Samuddaṁ dvādasāvaṭṭaṁ,

such is the abyss crossed over by the hermit.”

pātālaṁ atarī isī”ti.
