AN 7.45 Prerequisites for Samādhi – Samādhiparikkhārasutta

Bhikkhū, there are these seven prerequisites for samādhi.

“Sattime, bhikkhave, samādhiparikkhārā.

What seven?

Katame satta?

1.3

Right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, and right mindfulness.

Sammādi�ṭhi, sammāsaṅkappo, sammāvācā, sammākammanto, sammāājīvo, sammāvāyāmo, sammāsati.

Unification of mind with these seven factors as prerequisites is called noble right samādhi ‘with its vital conditions’ and ‘with its prerequisites’.”

Yā kho, bhikkhave, imehi sattahaṅgehi cittassekaggatā parikkhatā, ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, ariyo sammāsamādhi saupaniso itipi saparikkhāro itipī”ti.
