AN 7.41 Mastery of the Mind (2nd) – Dutiyavasasutta

Bhikkhū, having seven qualities Sāriputta has mastered his mind and is not mastered by it.

“Sattahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato sāriputto cittaṁ vase vatteti, no ca sāriputto cittassa vasena vattati.

Katamehi sattahi?

Sāriputta is skilled at samādhi, skilled in entering samādhi, skilled in remaining in samādhi, skilled in emerging from samādhi, skilled in gladdening the mind for samādhi, skilled in the mindfulness meditation subjects for samādhi, and skilled in projecting the mind purified by samādhi.

Idha, bhikkhave, sāriputto samādhikusalo hoti, samādhissa samāpattikusalo, samādhissa ṭhitikusalo, samādhissa vuṭṭhānakusalo, samādhissa kalyāṇakusalo, samādhissa gocarakusalo, samādhissa abhinīhārakusalo hoti.

Having these seven qualities Sāriputta has mastered his mind and is not mastered by it.”

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, sattahi dhammehi samannāgato sāriputto cittaṁ vase vatteti, no ca sāriputto cittassa vasena vattatī”ti.
