AN 5.252 Who Should Give Dependence – Nissayasutta

“Bhikkhū, dependence should be given by a bhikkhu with five qualities.

“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgatena bhikkhunā nissayo dātabbo.

What five?

Katamehi pañcahi?

It’s a bhikkhu who has the entire spectrum of an adept’s ethics, samādhi, wisdom, freedom, and the knowledge and vision of freedom.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu asekhena sīlakkhandhena samannāgato hoti …pe… asekhena vimuttiñāṇadassanakkhandhena samannāgato hoti.

Dependence should be given by a bhikkhu with these five qualities.”

Imehi …pe… nissayo dātabbo”ti.
