AN 4.31 Situations – Cakkasutta

Bhikkhū, there are these four situations. When these situations come about, any god or human who takes advantage of them will soon acquire great and abundant wealth.

“Cattārimāni, bhikkhave, cakkāni, yehi samannāgatānaṁ devamanussānaṁ catucakkaṁ vattati, yehi samannāgatā devamanussā nacirasseva mahantattaṁ vepullattaṁ pāpuṇanti bhogesu.

What four?

Katamāni cattāri?

Living in a suitable region, relying on good people, being rightly resolved in oneself, and past merit.

Patirūpadesavāso, sappurisāvassayo, attasammāpaṇidhi, pubbe ca katapuññatā—

These are the four situations. When these situations come about, any god or human who takes advantage of them will soon acquire great and abundant wealth.

Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri cakkāni, yehi samannāgatānaṁ devamanussānaṁ catucakkaṁ vattati, yehi samannāgatā devamanussā nacirasseva mahantattaṁ vepullattaṁ pāpuṇanti bhogesūti.

When a person lives in a suitable region,

Patirūpe vase dese,

making friends with noble ones,

ariyamittakaro siyā;

possessing right resolve,

Sammāpaṇidhisampanno,

2.4

and having merit from the past,

pubbe puññakato naro;

2.5

grain, riches, fame, reputation,

Dhaññaṁ dhanaṁ yaso kitti,

and happiness come to them.”

sukhañcetaṁdhivattatī”ti.
