AN 3.46 Ethical – Sīlavantasutta

 

1.1

Bhikkhū, when ethical renunciates are supported by a town or village,

“Yaṁ, bhikkhave, sīlavanto pabbajitā gāmaṁ vā nigamaṁ vā upanissāya viharanti.

the people there make much merit in three ways.

Tattha manussā tīhi ṭhānehi bahuṁ puññaṁ pasavanti.

Katamehi tīhi?

By way of body, speech, and mind.

Kāyena, vācāya, manasā.

When ethical renunciates are supported by a town or village,

the people there make much merit in these three ways.”
