AN 3.17 Hurting Yourself – Attabyābādhasutta

“These three things, bhikkhū, lead to hurting yourself, hurting others, and hurting both.

“Tayome, bhikkhave, dhammā attabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti, parabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti, ubhayabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti.

What three?

Katame tayo?

Bad conduct by way of body, speech, and mind.

Kāyaduccaritaṁ, vacīduccaritaṁ, manoduccaritaṁ.

These are three things that lead to hurting yourself, hurting others, and hurting both.

Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo dhammā attabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti, parabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti, ubhayabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti.

2.1

These three things, bhikkhū, don’t lead to hurting yourself, hurting others, or hurting both.

Tayome, bhikkhave, dhammā nevattabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti, na parabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti, na ubhayabyābādhāyapi saṁvattanti.

What three?
